RARE MANNING BOWMAN ART DECO WALL CLOCK Skyscraper Art Nouveau. ART DECO MANNING-BOWMAN Wall CLOCK. Manning- Bowman – formed in Meriden, Connecticut in 1849. Their pieces are represented in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the Yale University Art Gallery. Additionally, the company has exhibited products in the 1876 Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia as well as the Exposition Universelle in Paris. This fine wall clock helps to explain their renown. This wall clock features foliate and floral engravings on the front panels. A round clock face sits in the center with intricate chased Art Nouveau floral designs and Machine Age numbering. The hands of the clock, as well as the stepped sides, have been realized in a SKYSCRAPER style, reflecting the newly popularized architectural style of the time. The top of clock is adorned with beveled stylized vase that holds a bouquet of flowers. Inscribed Manning-Bowman & Co. , along with operating instructions, on the back. Packed away for years. Retains original glass cover. Minimal wear commensurate with gentle use. We have not tested clock. Approx– 13 3/4 l.
