This is an original, beautiful, authentic and hugely impressive clockwork starburst clock in gilt wood made by Smiths. Heavy moulded sunburst style casing with a central ring having sunrays bursting out of it. Brass hinged front opening bezel with lovely domed glass, over enamel dial with English numerals in a simulated chapter ring. Dial is marked “SMITHS, 8 DAY, 4 JEWEL” and “MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN”. Hanging ring to the rear. The approximate dimensions are as follows. Height – 12 inches. Width – 17 inches. Weight – 1150 g. Shown with a bottle of Champagne to give you an idea of scale. Comes with a modern “spider” clock key. In good working order. In good overall condition too – there is a little tarnishing to the brass ring and some minor loss of gilt to the tips of some of the’rays’ but nothing that detracts.
