It has characters & center motif cut into the back of the glass dial. Designed by John P. There are no nicks, chips or cracks to the glass mirror case. The rear of the mirror case has a backing of allagator cardboard. The only issue that I see is on the back and bottom right a small indentaion. The clocks runs quietly & keeps correct time.
