Art Deco globe clock beautiful bakelite and aluminum
For consideration I have an incredible item. This is a clock that is also a world globe. In my many years collecting globe related items this is one of 2 examples of this clock I have seen come to market. This clock has no manufacture markings except near Antarctica it mentions the cartography is done by Kermit Bishop. Kermit Bishop was a a cartographer for the Ohio Art company, in the 1930’s. This globe clock stands almost 6 inches tall, and the base is almost 5 inches across. The base is a beautiful combination of aluminum and bakelite? Or Catalan plastic, that gives this item a very nice machine age/ deco look. This item, based on the geography of the globe dates to the early 1930’s. Condition wise this item sits in wonderful preservation. With just the most superficial and minute scratches and wear, the aluminum base base a few rubs, but otherwise quite nice, I dare you to find a better example, they just are not out there. The clock works, but seems to loose a few minutes each day. It was presumably last adjusted in the 1970’s, I display this piece not plugged in, I suspect if it ran continuously for a week or so it would smooth out and keep better time. Lowballs , don’t bother, I will not respond to ridiculous offers. However if interested and you have a question, please ask!!
