We may presemt to you this masterpiece of watchmaking. Rare Jaeger-LeCoultre Atmos REUTTER clock, art deco, Atmos II calibre, 1940´s. In our opinion the Atmos Clock made by Jaeger LeCoultre is one of the most beautiful and as well technically advanced watch ever made. The joung engineer Jean-Leon Reutter had the idea to develop a movement which generates its energy just by temperature – and air pressure changes in the 1920ies. These first Atmos clocks containing mercury are extremely rare and very much sought after collector´s items. In the 30ies Jaeger bought the patents and developed the recent nitrous oxide system. If You like to learn more about the history and technical details of the Atmos clock please look for the book “living on air- the history of the Atmos pendulum clock”. As a hint, if You get in contact with the company of Jaeger LeCoultre and ask, they might just send You a copy. If You would like to date a clock, you can find lists of the serial numbers online. In our eyes the vintage 40ies and 50ies have the best movement quality, but even recent clocks are of very high quality and highly collectable. The precision of the movement is incredible for a mechanical clock, following an older Jaeger advertising it is made for 600 years… Hard to prove, but following some simple rules will increase durability and precision: The worst enemy of the Atmos is a watchmaker without experience. Our watchmaker is a “Master of Atmos”, a true specialist. Another dangerous enemy is the maid cleaning. Please always lock the pendulum when beeing moved, and place it perfectly flat by using the waterscale built in. The feet can simply be adjusted in hight. Enjoy Your Atmos clock for a long, long time. A very heavy wood case with chrome plated base. Golden dial with black arabic numerals, oure art deco design. One of the first Atmos II calibres.
