Ronson, Art Deco, Working Clock, Touch Tip Lacquer, Table Lighter
There were a couple “James Dean” movies that this exact lighter was used as a set prop, on film. I know it sat on Burl Ives Desk in the movie, East Of Eden. ” It also may have also been in “Rebel Without a Cause. The lighter has been in storage at least since the early 90’s. It does function fine as a working table lighter. I have tried it years ago. It matches the description as The Lacquer Version. I only wiped it lightly. There is definitely some really old DNA, patina going on. Here is the coolest part. The clock ticks, keeps close time, and works wonderfully. It is not pictured, but there is an extra, (somewhat ragged) piece of wick that I fished out of the inside that I will include. Also, I never attempted to dissemble the lighter except for adding a flint & fluid. My guess is that the felt bottom may be original. The lighter will be very, very well packed. I pride myself in packing abilities. An hour passed & the clock shows perfect time. The final cost was all over the place. Any and all funds will be spent thrifty and wisely.
