Delightful 1930’s Davall Tower Art Deco Walnut Cased Striking Mantle Clock
Delightful 1930’s Davall Tower Art Deco Walnut Cased Striking Mantle Clock. A delightful Art Deco mantle clock thought to date from the 1930’s. This lovely old British clock was made by Davall of Clerkenwell, London and has the’Tower’ striking movement. It is housed in a beautiful burr walnut case which has a few blemishes consistent with age (see photos for condition). The trapezoid shaped dial has Roman numbers on a silvered chapter ring and has hands which are excellent and typically Art Deco. The dial has a chrome door/bezel which is very well made with good hinges and thick glass. The rear door is also good with strong hinges. The gong striking movement is in nice shape and has the’Tower’ name and logo stamped on it, while the springs are good and fully wound. When the hands are manually rotated the clock does strike out of sequence. I have had this clock running but now stops after a few moments. It does work better when on a totally flat surface. It has been in storage for some considerable time and is no doubt clogged by years of dust and oil so will probably run well after a good clean and service. A genuine and original Art Deco piece that displays extremely well and comes with its winding key and Art Deco cylindrical pendulum. I will be happy to answer any questions I can relating to this sale. Many Thanks For Looking. The necessary boring terms and conditions. IF THIS CANNOT BE DONE PLEASE CONTACT ME.
