ICONIC MID-CENTURY MODERN SWISS 2-DAY ALARM CLOCK BY CYMA. This handsome alarm clock is from my personal collection of meritorious timepieces. Commencing with apprenticeship to a European master clock and watchmaker through high school graduation, freshmen year of college and remainder of the 1970s, I sensitively restored clocks of all types; opening service and sales showrooms in the western suburbs of Chicago. Satin brushed and mirror polished solid brass case with shaped and molded base. Roundels flank a canted circular bezel set with beveled glass crystal. Satin rose gold dial with bold Arabic numbers and screened chapter ring. Blued steel hands with luminous fill. Movement cover stamped Cyma Watch Co. Swiss; markings designate functions and directions of winding / setting. Winding the alarm raises the button atop the cover. The bell is silenced by depressing the button. 10a movement with lever escapement. The clock presents attractively and is in fine running order. NOTE: In March of 2024, I completely disassembled, ultrasonically cleaned and rinsed the movement in waterless solutions, checked for wear, reassembled and lubricated with high-grade Swiss oils. The mainspring was removed from its barrel, cleaned and lubricated with grease. Hands, dial and crystal were cleaned. The case was taken apart, hand polished and sealed with a specialty brass lacquer. Meticulous restoration should provide reliable operation for years.
