RESTORED! Rare 1940s Looping Swiss Desk Alarm Clock 2-day, 7-jewel mvt
RARE EARLY LOOPING SA (CORCELLES, SWITZERLAND) 2-DAY ALARM CLOCK. Model depicted in European magazine advertisement published in the late 1940s. A handsome alarm clock from my personal collection of meritorious timepieces. Time has come for these gems of Old World craftsmanship to find appreciative new homes. Satin brushed and polished solid brass case with rose gold finish. Angled plinth and platform with rounded corners. Square bezel set with beveled crystal. Satin silvered dial with Arabic numbers and screened minute markers. Gilded hands and alarm pointer. Movement cover labeled in French and marked to designate directions of winding / setting. Winding the alarm raises the overhead button. Bell is silenced by depressing the button. Nicely finished 7-jewel movement with lever escapement. The clock presents attractively and is in fine running order. NOTE: In February of 2024, I completely disassembled, ultrasonically cleaned and rinsed the movement in waterless solutions, checked for wear, reassembled and lubricated with high-grade Swiss oils. Mainsprings were removed from barrels, cleaned and greased. Hands, dial and crystal and case were cleaned. Meticulous restoration should provide reliable operation for years. Please review descriptive information and study the photographs for details. I’m available to answer any and all questions / concerns.
