We provide detailed pictures and try to point out any flaws we think are outside of regular use. What a fantastic find!! BELLE EPOQUE Cartier desk clock with it’s original leather covered case!! This miniature desk clock by Cartier dates to about 1920s. The clock was manufactured for Cartier by European Watch & Clock Co. It is 43.77 mm high w legs included, 41.48 mm without. It is 29 mm wide and 22.57 mm deep w/ crystal included. 18.61 mm w/o the crystal. The case is most likely silver that was gilded. There are 4 sides with guilloche`green enamel and another thin border in white enamel. The enamel is in great condition, no chips anywhere. Silver dial with applied gold Arabic numerals and gold minute track. Gold hands with some aging. Faded Cartier signature and SWISS at the very bottom of the dial. The bezel around the crystal measures 21.7 mm across. Hinged case back with a notch at the top for thumbnail to open. European Watch & Clock 14 jewels movement with 2 adjustments is in great shape and running strong. Judging by the size of the barrel this could be an 8 day movement. I wound it and it has already run 75 hours and keeps running. Blued steel screws in great shape, unmolested. There are 2 watchmaker’s marks on the inside of the case cover. This movement is wound counter clockwise. We have no history of when the movement was last serviced so if to be used, service is strongly suggested! Most collectors would not be running the movement on regular basis, in my opinion. Lastly, the original Cartier leather carrying case is in fantastic condition, only the fabric lining shows some fraying. This was Christie’s hammer price. Just a short note to our buyers.
