Vintage Working Junghans Tambour Mantel Clock Westminster Chimes Mahogany Case
This Junghans mantel clock has a working W200/100 pendulum-driven, three train Westminster movement. This Junghans movement model was produced during the 1930’s and early 1940’s with production being superseded by a newer model sometime near the end of WWII. The clockworks have been serviced recently. The face of the clock is about 5-1/2 in diameter and has Art Deco style numerals. It is protected by a convex crystal with a hinged brass bezel. The tambour case is made of wood with mahogany veneers. It is about 7-3/4″ high and 16″ wide and 4 from front to back at the base. The wood finish is in very good condition with the exception of a small 1/8 nick found on the top of the case see photo. The clockworks are accessible through a latching hinged door found on the rear of the case. The back plate of the movement is stamped with “W200/100, ” Beruder Junghans”, Made in Germany, ” and the Junghans logo. The reverse of the pendulum has the typical crackling (see photo) found on many other Junghans pendulums of the era. This issue appears to have been stabilized through a repair at sometime in the past. The pendulum has been adjusted to keep accurate time. But, your location’s temperature and humidity may require it to be recalibrated. The clock sounds the Westminster quarters at the expected intervals and the proper number of strikes on the hour. The clock key seen in the photos is included but it is not known if it is the original. Please refer to the photos to make your own determination of the condition of this Junghans mantel clock.
