The chrome finish is original and looks quite presentable. The clock retains it’s original electric motor but does not work. It has a new cloth covered cord and new bakelite plug. The original Catalin inlay and base look very nice. I see only one surface crack on the left front of the base. I ran my finger nail over it and can barely feel it. It has it’s original back panel and all knobs and screws. All together this is a fine work of craftsmanship and would definitely be the focal point in someone’s collection. It is very displayable. Specifics: -The marbled catalin base and inlays around the face are a rich butterscotch color with little fading -The catalin base is near perfect except for a tiny single hairline crack on the front left (see photos) -The catalin inlay around the face is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or marks The inlay does appear to have been worked on the inside edge at sometime in the past to expand the gap around the chrome bezel (probably to prevent any cracking due to normal shrinkage of the catalin) -The chrome plated case looks excellent but in direct light if you look close it is possible to find tiny scuffs, isolated pitting and shallow scratches but is structurally sound with no major dents -It is missing all 4 catalin foot pads but it still stands straight and balanced -The face is in great condition with no spotting and the hands move freely -The glass cover is original with no cracks but could be cleaned on the inside for perfect clarity -The cloth cord is new and was replaced by a previous owner using an age appropriate bakelite plug Created by Manning-Bowman & Co Made in Meriden Connecticut U.
