WW2 Era Smiths 8 Day Bakelite Wall Clock. A lot of these clocks were of military issue, this one has no markings to indicate military use, probably it was used in a train station, town hall or school. Indicates that it was made in the early 1940s. A Mechanical Clock with winder at the bottom, pull winder to change the time. The clock measures 29cm across the back, 20.3cm across the glass front dial, and is 7.2cm thick. (11 7/16in x 8in x 2 7/8in). The clock is complete and undamaged and works well. It is a full Brown Bakelite Case with no chips, cracks or breaks. I’d say even the winder knob is Bakelite as is the top housing of the regulator. It has been painted to the outside twice, once cream and then green. There is wear showing to the painted face plate and some wear to the paintwork on the case. You can see the cream paint showing beneath the green. I repeat that the Bakelite is perfect. The clock has otherwise not been restored and is in original condition.
