RARE Vintage Smith Metal Arts Silver Crest Desk/Mantel Electric Clock, works from power cord, with legendary Lawson digital rotating drums clock movement. Solid Metal clock body which looks like patinated and coated brass with attractive coating design. See pictures for details. The digital drums are plastic. Felt is attached to the wooden? Insert inside the metal hollow bottom part of the clock. There is no company logo on the back of the clock. Based on the clock design and Lawson original parts, it looks like a Silver Crest line model by the Smith Metal Arts Company. Very Good condition, close to perfect. Has light signs of use and age, barely visible. Hard to find in this condition. Most likely the clock was produced in 40s-60s judging by the style of digits on the Lawson clock movement mechanism. Smith Metal Arts company used Seth Thomas analog clock movements and Lawson digital clock movement mechanisms for their clocks. The clock face is marked as Lawson. The rotating digital drums are made of white plastic. The face appears yellow because of the original transparent plastic face cover which has yellow tint from age? Back of the clock opens for easy access to adjust time. Very attractive Art Deco mid century design. Could be displayed on the mantel, shelf or as a desktop clock. The clock base has two holes for pen holders. Pen holders are not included. The last picture shows the inside mechanism in perfect condition. The clock is tested for several days.
