16H 1930’s ART DECO PARISIAN CLOCK A LA RENAISSANCE MARBLE MANTLE CLOCK. Approximate measurements 16″ high x 14.5″ wide x 5 deep. Striking 1920’s Art Deco ma. Clock constructed of variegated gray, tan and black marble (which in reality is/was Belgium limestone) in the early geometric shaped Art Deco style, in which the central block of “marble” takes a 4-sided diamond form which encloses a square glazed brass dial bezel in an asymmetrical manner, the hinged glazed bezel opens to a square gilt dial black arabic enameled hours, open bar minutes with enameled Cubist markers every 5 minutes and steel “Polar” hands dial is marked for the retailed, La Renaissance 47/49 Blvd. Martin, Paris round solid brass plate movement connected with tubular pillars which are pinned at the back plate; anchor escapement and outside counter wheel for striking; move- ment is spring powered of 8-day duration and striking the silvered bell on the hour & half hour. Cosmetics of the clock are in. Excellent shape with barely a nick to its marble surface, while mechanically, the movement likely z. Was overwound with the original key that accompanies the clock — someone was having too much fun.
