This is a striking example of an Art Deco solid silver desk clock which is Swiss made with the silver frame made by Levi & Salaman Birmingham in 1928. The hallmarks are on the rear behind the brass securing ring but can be made out as L&S, the Anchor for Birmingham, Lion Passant and date letter “D” for 1928, it’s difficult but please see pictures and do your own research to confirm the above. As mentioned the watch is secured to the silver frame with a brass ring, the housing and front also appear to be brass, the front outer ring has a lovely Art Deco design. The silver frame is made of a heavy piece of silver with a lovely Art Deco design with the inner area around the clock face having a engine turned pattern and stunning piecing forming the outer edges. The design is very reminisent of the design ethos of the era with its uncluttered motif focusing on the geometric and linear patterns which found their way into all elements of design and architechture and an embelem of the 1920’s and 1930’s. The clock is working very well and keeping good time but please see my watch proviso below and I always recommend regularly servicing vintage or antique clocks and watches. The watch measures 5.5cm in diameter and 16mm deep, approx. The silver frame is 11.6cm x 9.2cm, approx. It weighs 266.5 grams, approx. The movement is not reachable so I don’t know what type or make but it is 8 days and Swiss Made as this is written on the face. It is wound with a fixed key and the hands are adjusted with a central knob, the rear is also marked Swiss Made. The face has a yellow gold colour and as mentioned it has 8 Day and Swiss Made on it. It has black Arabic Numerals and Breguet blue steel hands. This substantial and decorative Art Deco desk clock can be used day to day or would make the most special of gifts.
