Art Deco 1930s Smiths Sunburst Gesso Gilt Wall Clock Converted to Battery, Fully Working. Gorgeous Art Deco sunburst or sunray wall clock dating from the 1930s by the iconic English clockmaker Smiths Industries. The clocks moulded surround and deco-esque rays are made of plaster with a gilt finish – this process is called Gesso and was carried out on high end pieces of the period. The clock is finished off with a white face, black numbers and hands housed under a domed glass. This clock would have originally been electric but has been updated and fitted with a modern battery quartz movement. It is in great vintage condition, damage to one small ray – but very difficult to see. Would look fab in a minimalist loft or period art deco house. Max Diameter: 19 inches (48cm) Clock Diameter: 6.5 inches (16.5cm). Depth: 3.5 inches (9cm).
