A Blue Glass, Art Deco/Modernist Table Clock by Gilbert Rohde
If youre a Rohde clock buff you know that its indisputably in the design style of many of Rohdes Art Deco-era table clocks. It seems to show up less frequently than similar designs; does that make it more rare? The round blue glass face has two imperfections. Theres a 1/4 inch wide shallow clamshell chip at about 6:33 (on the clock) and a very slight internal disturbance where it might have been bumped? Inside the glass at about 6 after the hour (no surface eruption). Ive had the base resilvered and its perfect. The clock keeps perfect time but it makes a little noise not enough to cause alarm (ha-ha) but what you might expect from an old electric clock can you imagine, its going on 100 years old?? !!! Its been rewired (note the fabric-covered cord) and I had it gone over by a professional clock guy years ago; I havent used it since then. I presume he cleaned it and oiled it appropriately. What a jewel, any way you look at it! Measurements: about 6 ½ inches high. The item “A Blue Glass, Art Deco/Modernist Table Clock by Gilbert Rohde” is in sale since Wednesday, March 20, 2019.
