Gorgeous 1936 Hammond Empress electric alarm clock. In fantastic, fully functional condition, this example is one of the nicest I’ve found images of. Manual start clock motor and setting mechanism work fine, as do the alarm dial, on/off lever, and buzzer. Looks to have been re-corded at some point and while it works with the fitted supply cord I’d probably replace it if I were going to keep it running. Black Bakelite base is present and fully intact, including metal nameplate. Chrome surround is near perfect with only a few small pits. Dial and hands are near perfect. Mirror face is a very light violet blue color and is in decent condition, but exhibits some fogging around the edges and a spot or two in other places. Still very nice and these defects are near invisible from a few feet away unless you’re looking for them. Beveled glass front cover is in good shape though there is some chipping around the edges, only one incidence of which is visible with the clock assembled. Back of the clock is in good shape, Bakelite sections of case are intact, metal sections have paint wear and controls have some wear due to use. I’d bet it’ll be awhile before you see another this nice original condition! Please ask if you have any questions, and thank you for the interest.
