Gilbert Rohde American Art Deco Demilune Burlwood Clock. I could find only a single mention for this clock (at a reputable Art Deco site). This is what they wrote. Gilbert Rohde designed this rare demilune clock for the Herman Miller Clock Company in Zeeland, Michigan. It is pictured in their 1935 and 1937 catalogs and is shown as # 4718. The front is maple burl with an inlaid line of Sapai wood. The dial is silver plated with lithographed numbers. The bezel around the convex glass is polished brass as are the six ball feet. The clock is in excellent condition. It is 9 wide, 2 deep and 5 high. It was sitting in a Gilbert Rohde dining room — the sideboard to be precise. Said the dining room set came from a Ford estate….. The clock is not running. The finish (looks like some sort of wax) on both sides is peeling—-but the veneer appears to be in good shape. The veneer is pulling slightly from the bottom. The number 6347 has been scratched over what looks to be 4718. A must have item for the advanced Gilbert Rohde or Art Deco clock collector. If you have any question, please ask.
