The marble / onyx is green with with white and lighter green and some gold colored veins. There is some nibbling and chipping on the top base corners. The bottom base corners are sharp with only very minor nibbling. The marble /onyx top has sharp clean corners with only one small minor chip. The clock-face seems to be made of Mother Of Pearl and has become de-laminated from a bronze or brass back plate, otherwise it is intact and in good condition. The small block under the birds tail (see photo#8, taken from the back of clock)has become loose and needs to be re-grouted into place. The number 22965 and “france” is stamped on the clockworks inside as well as the #155. This clock was working about two years ago when it was moved from my late brother-in-law’s home. Two birds are featured on either side of the clock and matching birds on the clock face. Please note that the blue color on the face clock is distorted by my camera. The color is more of a turquoise. A small knob used to open the rear door is missing. The name “Rochard” is signed on the birds’ feet. From my limited research, Irenee Rochard was an animal sculptor. He showed his talent and skill through his bronze sculptures, ceramics and wood, granite and marble carvings. He was born 1/16/1906 in Villefranche-sur-Saone. He was a member of the French Artists Society from 1938 and on. He won numerous prizes and distinctions. He died 3/29/1984 in Paris, France. Needs cleaning and re-setting. Measures 18 1/2″ long x 5″ deep x 14 1/4 tall. If you need additional photos or info please do not hesitate to contact me.
