NEAR MINT HIGH DECO SETH THOMAS WATERFALL CLOCK. You will not find this clock’s case with its original high gloss finish in better condition. It looks as if it were made yesterday rather than in the mid 1930s. The quality of the finish and construction of the case and its design details are outstanding.. You have to search for the very few flea bites which stop me from calling it mint. All vulnerable corners are perfect. The clock measures 11″ high 8 1/4″ wide and 6 1/2 deep. Check out the photos, they show the condition well. The eight day No 124 movement, with mellow Westminister Chimes (which can be turned on or off), keeps time well. It has its original key. The chimes sound at 15, 30, 45, and on the hour. I will pack this clock carefully to protect the case and the delicate movement. Some more info on this clock. It is model Chime 57. It has its tag with that name on the bottom on the clock. This was not the first Seth Thomas clock to have this name. In the 1920s the same movement was placed in a more traditional curved top clock with sloping shoulders. I don’t know whether that case was discontinued in the 1930s, but the same name was used for this deco version that was released in the mid 1930s. After examining web sites dealing with Seth Thomas clocks it is clear that this clock is much less common than the earlier version. One correspondent describes it as not necessarily rare but uncommon. The 124 movement is one that Seth Thomas used for quite a while in the 1920s and 30s in many of their high end mantel clocks. You will not be disappointed with this clock. The item “WONDERFUL SETH THOMAS ART DECO CLOCK” is in sale since Thursday, April 14, 2016.
