Beautiful Bentima/Perivale (1936-40) Westminster Chiming Mantle Clock, Fully res
Beautiful Bentima/Perivale (1936-40) Westminster Chiming Mantle Clock, Fully restored. This fully restored Bentima Westminster chiming mantle clock was made around 1940s in Middlesex, and it powered with the quality three-train Perivale movement. The lovelt two-tone feature of the case looks attractive. The case has been restored, polished and waxed to present shiny condition. And famous Perivale movement has been dismantled, ultrasonically overhauled, and oiled (see photos). The All British Made clock is now presented in lovely antique condition, great working order and pleasant quarterly chimes playing the Westminster tunes. The art-deco style case is made of walnut veneers, with a small arched top, curved shoulders and straight and simplistic sides. The front has a light golden tone, whilst the top and sides have a light brown tone. A large newly gilded circular brass bezel front door is fitted with the original convex glass. A matching two tone dark brown chapter ring forms pleasant contrast with the light golden walnut central plate. Embossed large individual chrome-plated Arabic numerals are used to show the hour, with periodically plated narrow rings at the outside for the minute mark, pointed by a pair of newly gilded framed hour and minute hands. Inside the chapter ring, the central plate exhibit matching colour tone with the rest of the front panel, allowing the hands to create high contrast for easy time reading. The manufacture/retailor name Bentima is printed at the top of the chapter ring, whilst made in England is printed at the bottom of the chapter ring. The re-known Perivale movement was subjected to careful examination, strip off the components, ultrasonically overhauled and serviced. No repair is required. The clock is now working very well for weeks, ticking beautifully, chiming pleasantly and keeping good time. The quarterly Westminster chime is produced via four bronze bars, making 4, 8, 12 chimes at every 15, 30, 45 minutes and 16 chimes +striking at the full hour, which can be silenced easily by flicking a small lever inside the dial on the right. The dial, hands, glass, and bezel are all in excellent condition. The only minor imperfection on the case is a scratch mark at the top (see photo). It has been filled and polished, but matching the original light colour is a challenge. Overall, the smoothly designed and the two-toned feature of the clock will sit nicely in any mantel in a living room. The case has a smooth, slim and visually comfortable geometry: 12-inch wide, 8.5-inch tall and 4.5-inch deep (30 x 21 x 10 cm). All clocks I sell are subject to weeks of testing prior to listing, and they come with a pendulum and working winding key. In this case, the clock comes with its original guided pendulum and the original unmarked bronze Perivale winding key. Please look at the photos for signs of wear and tears for a piece of antique which form an essential part of the description. I will pack the clock as careful as possible to make sure it arrives safely. I will provide a guidance to help set up the pendulum. Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
