Bavarians Old Style Lighted Countertop Sign w/Clock in Art Deco Style Case. Make sure you check out my other auctions! This is a very nice lighted advertising sign, with a working clock, for Bavarians Old Style beer. The case is metal in a rounded art deco style while both the top and bottom display glasses are plate glass with silk screened paint. Being lighted gives it a VERY NICE look. It also has a round clock on the left side that is working great and keeps good time. Although Im not sure if the clock is original to the sign, but based on its age, Im guessing it is. I havent figured out how to manually adjust the clock time, although there is a post in the back that I THINK should do that, it doesnt seem to turn. The solution I found is to plug in the clock at the correct time when you want to have the display lit and once powered up, it keeps great and accurate time. Originally, I think there was a rotating message panel that turned around the outside face of the clock and the message would be displayed in the window below the clock face. At this time, that rotating message disk is no longer in place but I believe reproduction disks can be found. The top display is glass and is in FANTASTIC shape. I cant say whether it is a reproduction or not but since it has silk screened paint on the glass, Im led to believe it is original, but please decide for yourself. It has a couple missing chips of paint in the far lower right corner and also in the far upper left corner. Neither detracts from the great look it presents. Otherwise, the glass is nearly perfect, including the lettering and mans face. The lower panel is also glass and Im guessing that one is definitely original as it shows some fading on the left side where the bulb is prominent behind it. But even with that, otherwise, the glass is in VERY nice shape with barely any missing paint and all lettering is intact. Surrounding this glass is an art deco style curved metal case with lettering just above it that states Brewed and Bottled by Bavarian Brewing Co. This may have originally been considered a cash register topper since it also has a downward curving metal panel in the front, but at this time, I have had it displayed on a shelf and it looks great. The back case is also curved metal with some noticeable scratches in the paint. The clock mechanism is intact. Even the original manufacturers labels are in place near the bottom. It indicates this is a Price Bros. Sign with a caution decal next to it about the voltage of the sign. This is a VERY COOL and nice looking sign. The sign measures 9.5 tall, 12-1/8 wide, and 5-3/8 deep. The colors are nice and bright with no sign of any fading, except for the one spot on the left side of the lower glass. This is a very nice Bavarian beer advertising sign that would be a great addition to any brewery or advertising collection. Lighted with a fully working clock! It doesnt get any better than that!
