LACKNER NEON GLO DIAL ART DECO MID CENTURY CLOCK- BLACK BAKELITE, ORIGINAL, PRISTINE, AND MINT THROUGHOUT. This Lackner Neon Glo Dial clock made in Cincinnati, Ohio is as nice an original example as exists. The black bakelite cabinet is free of any cracks, chips, nicks, dings, scratches, or burns. Not even any of the inner screw holes that secure the original back panel have any chips. The clock has its factory original dial face, neon transformer, dial face, dial hands, and neon tube. It works , both the neon glo and the clock. There is no guarantee of accuracy with it keeping time. If you wish to use it daily, it is recommended you have a qualified professional service it, as it may need lubrication and calibration. You don’t often see this model in the rare ebony plastic bakelite (NOT painted), I think this is one of the few I have ever had. Much more common in brown bakelite. The Lackner Clock Company of Cincinnati, Ohio was a major producer of advertising and industrial clocks in the 1930’s and 1940’s. They made a smaller number of decorative clocks for the home, most notably the line of “Neon Glo” clocks. As the name implies, they use a neon tube inside for illumination. The cases were almost always Bakelite or Catalin, and generally had a distinct Art Deco flavor. This unusual one has a glass globe frosted figure that is lit by the neon tube inside.
