Extremely Rare and Desirable 1920s Art Deco Skyscraper Granddaughter Clock
For your consideration we are offering this extremely rare and unusual Granddaughter clock created in the visual and influential art deco movement. Standing 50.5″ in height with a width of 10.75″ and 6.5 deep (measurements taken at all widest points) this incredible estate find has the design elements and stylized form popularized in France during the early part of the roaring Twenties and is coveted among collectors everywhere today. The case is stunning with its simplistic skyscraper lines and is well constructed in what is believed to be either a richly stained quarter sawn oak or mahogany. In overall very good condition it shows typical signs of wear with a few scuffs, surface scratches, and tiny specks of light paint splatter from standing in close proximity to a wall or ceiling being painted at some point through the years. This is not immediately noticeable unless intentionally looking for it and should be removable. The face and hands are in clean, impeccable condition. The square bezel holding and framing the convex glass shows some expected light pitting; the hinges operate as intended. Wear is appropriate for age and history of use on a century old clock. Please review the photos as they are a descriptive part of this listing. We don’t have a key, however, the brass pendulum is in place. A tremendous opportunity for the clock enthusiast for a full and proper restoration (which would require very little), or for the home decorator looking for that “something extra” to add character and flair to a stylish room, we have priced this desired and coveted timepiece substantially below current market value in lieu of its unknown mechanical state. Weighs just over 16 pounds. We welcome your questions and are delighted to answer! Thank you for looking!
