Art Deco Sterling Silver and Gold Asprey Jaeger Lecoultre? 8 Day Travel Clock. An exceptional and very rare sterling silver and gold-plated mechanical travel clock. This folding desk travel clock was a very popular design for Jaeger LeCoultre, and the company made this model for a number of the world’s leading retailers of the time. Hermès made their own leather cases to hold these movements, and other such as Asprey of London, high quality silver and goldsmiths charged their own team of master craftsmen to re-case these movements. This example of an Art Deco travel clock is very unusual especially the exceptional gold-plated detailing which has aged beautifully. The winder is mounted just below the six o’clock position and is simply wound once to produce eight days of power. Made in London, England. The clock has numerous English silver hallmarks, and Asprey makers stamps. It has London U date stamp dating it to 1935. PLEASE NOTE WE FOUND THE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS TIME PIECE ON THE INTERNET. THE ONE WE SAW WAS NOT MARKED TO THE FACE LECOULTRE. THIS ONE IS NOT EITHER. WE DON’T KNOW HOW TO REMOVE THE BACK TO EXAMINE THE MOVEMENT. IT IS NOT KNOWN TO US IF THIS IS A LECOULTRE MOVEMENT. THIS IS QUALITY CASED, HEAVY, IT WEIGHS IN A NEARLY ONE POUND! IT APPEARS WOUND TOO TIGHT AND IS NOT IN RUNNING CONDITION. LIGHT CHIPPING TO THE EDGE OF THE BEVELED GLASS. 4 OF THE 5 TINY SCREWS ARE MISSING THAT HOLD THE WATCH PLATE TO THE CASE. NIFTY CLOCK BUT NEEDS SOME TWEAKING. MEASURES: 3 7/8″ BY 2 1/2″.
