Swaine & Adeney, an eight day stirrup clock, signed Swaine & Adeney, 185 Piccadilly, W1, circa 1920’s, with a two piece hinged nickel plated case, a chrome plated screw bezel, a silvered engine turned dial, blued steel hands, black Arabic numerals, 7 jewel eight day Swiss movement with double mainspring barrels, monometallic balance and flat balance spring in good working order. Bezel thread in fair condition, some scratches and rub marks, dial in fair condition for age, hands, numerals and index complete, and a small edge chip to the right of the numeral 2 otherwise glass is good – see photos. Movement is in very good working order. On closer inspection the dial appears to be engine turned – together with the blued hands this is obviously a very nice touch and oozes quality – also in very small writing below the 6 the dial States SWITZERLAND. The clock is 2 1/4 inches wide (5.5cms). An excellent Art Deco era timepiece from a the quality London maker Swaine and Adeney Ltd 185 Piccadilly W1!
